Teen Chat Comment from Sam

name = Sam
email = (optional)
Aspies_Teen_Chat_comments = Hello, my name is Sam, I'm 15, and I live in the northern U.S. I have not been diagnosed with aspergers, but both my parents and I have noticed signs that point to it. I have a number of obscure hobbies (by the way, I love trains, and I study them more than most people). In the past, I have been quite socially awkward, but I am learning quickly. If I truly have aspergers, I am extremely high functioning, but I continue to notice things about myself that seem different from those around me, and at times I feel the need to reach out. For security reasons I won't put my email, but I can comment for now.

  1. Hi sam. My name is Zoe I have Asperger's Syndrome. It is great that you are looking to reach out to other aspies(name given to describe someone with Asperger's Syndrome). It seems like you may have Asperger's. You should get a diagnosis if you haven't already especially if you feel that the disorder may keep you from moving on in life(moving out, going to college etc..).

  2. Hi Zoe. I'm sorry it took me so long to notice you responded; I kibd of forgot about my comment after awhile. I would like to be diagnosed at some point, I guess we just haven't found a convenient time to do so. I got a job this year at a museum, and I feel like I've adapted to society pretty well, but every so often I'll run into a social blunder of some sort, which can be embarrassing. People like us have hidden talents though; for example, on certain subjects I've been told I'm like a walking encyclopedia. Thanks for reaching out, it's nice to meet someone finally.
